Myth 1: Carolina will draft Cam Newton with 1st pick
Rage reaction:If ESPN’s sport science with Marcell Dareus didn’t solidify him as an absolute beast in your mind then nothing will. You can view that video here: Sport Science – Marcell Dareus. He can play virtually anywhere along the defensive line.He is a human black hole that eats space around him.His quick first step and strong hand punch make him a nightmare match-up for any offensive coordinator. This is the best defensive line draft in terms of talent and depth that we have ever seen and he tops the list.Still not sold on Marcell going number one?Plug yourself into the GM chair for Carolina – Cam Newton left the University of Florida rather than face suspension or expulsion because of three instances of academic cheating and one instance of theft of a laptop to which he was suspended from the football team.Plus, he has only one season of success as a starter and the rumors about his father’s dealings with agents make him very suspect.
Myth 2:Dallas Cowboys will select Tyron Smith at #9
Rage reaction:We felt Smith was a smoke screen all along for the OL as they coveted Anthony Castonzo the most. With past failed draft picks along the offensive line Jerry and Co. will go safe and pluck from the NFL’s OL factory, the Boston College Eagles.Dallas will move Doug Free back to right side – where he played better.Anthony Castonzo (who by the way had the second highest wonderlic score and is a biochemistry major) will anchor the left side where he played better while at BC.Tom Ciskowski indicated that the Cowboys are considering “about four players” at No. 9 overall. We believe Anthony Castonzo is highest ranked them along with JJ Watt, Nate Solder and Tyron Smith.
Myth 3: Miami will select Mark Ingram
Rage reaction:We initially had Ingram going to the fins at 15.Ingram finds himself in similar situation as Da’quan Bowers with a knee injury.Ingram drops maybe to late 1st round (don’t be surprised to see NE use its second 1st round pick here).Dolphins will select Ryan Mallet.Mallet has received ton of negative press (all minor events from what we found). One club said Mallet thinks he is Eminem. We’re not buying it.He stands at 6’6” and 238 pounds with a rocket arm.Chad Henne is not the answer and the Dolphins know it.
Myth 4: QB’s will start flying off the shelf in late Round 1, early Round 2
Rage reaction:Believe it!Andy Dalton, Christian Ponder and Colin Kaepernick are all climbing up draft boards as the big day approaches. As we’ve outlined previously, 10 of the top 16 teams drafting in the top half of Round 1 have QB questions. As it stands now Newton & Gabbert will likely go in the top 10, while Locker & Mallet could go from 10-20.While for the most part, the teams drafting at the back half of round 1 are stable at quarterback, the teams who didn’t get a QB in Round 1 will be looking to get back in to the end of Round 1 or early Round 2 to get their guy.
Myth 5: The Bills Pick Gabbert if Available at #3
Rage reaction:Aint happening. The Bills have a lot of needs but they like Kirkpatrick and he played surprisingly well last season.Their D has a lot of holes and no playmakers.I think their rumors about looking at a QB is probably just trying to see if they can move down a few spots for someone who wants Gabbert or Newton.
